Ioannis Mandafounis, now at the helm of the DFDC – Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company, once led by William Forsythe, always begins his creations with the theme of the encounter between the ensemble and the audience. He applies a methodology that allows him to create choreography live on stage, so that almost nothing in his performances is predetermined. À la carte is filled with scenes that use objects, effects, music, and lighting to enable a variety of dance styles, atmospheres, and themes, bringing dancers and spectators together as if they were jointly preparing an original and richly textured menu.
