Thrice is a triptych that draws on the elements evoked by Octavio Paz in his poem Wind, Water, Stone. The first piece, Gusts, explores air, breath and movement, accompanied by live music performed by the celebrated Norwegian saxophonist Bendik Giske; Médusés takes inspiration from the myth of Medusa, the priestess of Athena whose gaze could turn people to stone; Brise-lames, the final part, transports us underwater. The performance thus brings together the key elements of Damien Jalet’s artistic vision: a gallery of evocative images generated by his practice, movement, lighting, sound and their repetition.
