Alonzo King | Lines Ballet
Torinodanza closes the 2024 edition with an American company that has significantly influenced the history and evolution of contemporary choreography: Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet. Their piece, suspended between pointe shoes and powerful gestures, exemplifies how choreographic art is a story of references, inventions, and citations—a stream of creativity rooted in academic principles yet venturing into unknown territories. With Deep River, created during the pandemic, Alonzo King writes a love letter to a world writhing in pain, engaging his extraordinary ensemble in a dynamic interplay of solos, pas de deux, and grand collective moments.
