RUA DA SAUDADE

ADRIANO BOLOGNINO
Italy

A young artist from Campania, Adriano Bolognino, presents the premiere of his Rua da Saudade. The piece explores the rarefied concept of ‘saudade’, a word that cannot be translated within the finite horizon of human words, but that can be expressed through art, which, as always, reveals the boundless nature of human feelings. Drawing inspiration from the poetics of Fernando Pessoa, the four brightly coloured young dancers perform a variety of autonomous heteronyms, each of which possesses its own intimate form of ‘saudade’ that, unlike nostalgia or loneliness, can be shared as a form of collective experience.
